Before he became Reaper, Blackwatch’s Reyes met a kid named Jesse McCree.
I wanted to do a more serious comic this time.
I really like McCree’s backstory. It’s probably the coolest thing about a dude in his thirties who dresses up as a cowboy and runs around with a decade old BAMF belt lol.
I want to do a follow up to this comic sometime. I’m not sure if I’ll do it right away or do a more light hearted comic first.
It’s that time of year again, a new hero is coming out soon in Overwatch, which means that some black women are hoping for a black woman hero and racist gamers are being rude and aggressive about it. Lets clear some things up:
“Black woman” is not some unreasonable combination of identities to hope for
Even though Egypt is in Africa, there is a high population of Arabic people, and the Amaris are implied to be ethnically Arabic, not black
Symmetra isn’t coded as black either, not every dark-skinned person is black, you’re just racist
Efi is not a playable character
Even though it is important and interesting to have female-coded robots (especially ones that aren’t sexualized) and African-coded robots, this still doesn’t make Orisa a black woman. Human black women exist, you don’t have to make robots the only representation
Lucio is black, even though he’s from Brazil. I don’t know why this comes up every time, but it does. Still not a black woman
There are multiple canon black Overwatch agents mentioned or pictured in the lore that could be easily added
Doomfist and Brigitte were added because of fan interest, so don’t pretend adding a black woman will wreck Michael Chu’s carefully planned out lore. (For that matter, don’t pretend he actually has a plan)
There’s a difference between headcanons and canon representation
