“Shadow Play” – Throwback to an oldie but a goodie!
This month has been crazy with freelance but hopefully I’ll get to finish my new Halloween piece soon. Let’s just say I think it will have a Universal appeal 🙂
This year for Halloween, I went as Juliet from Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet (1996). The dress was handmade from some white muslin that I already had on-hand. The top was micropleated (which was a huge learning experience for me), with velvet ribbons sewn on top to help the pleats stay flat. I wanted it to be strapless so that the straps of my wings would show. The skirt is a 4-feet long gathered circle skirt with a 3-tier petticoat underneath that I also made because I’m insane.
The mask was taken from Alexander McQueen’s “Inferno” show (also 1996).
Michael went as Romeo in knight’s armor, but I haven’t made him stand for a photoshoot yet.
